Profica’s green pledge: A tree for every project in the ground!

At Profica, we’re more than just project leaders. We’re environmental stewards, firmly committed to influencing the way projects get delivered. As project leaders, we strive to influence our clients and project teams positively to consider and implement Environmental and Sustainability requirements in the projects that we manage.

Since the inception of Profica 18 years ago, our founding mission has been to “create sustainable environments for people at work, home, and play”. This ethos has guided us throughout our journey, shaping our perspective on the impact we have on the environment and our responsibility towards it.

We’re excited to announce a new initiative that embodies this commitment – we’ve pledged to reduce our carbon footprint by planting a Profica forest in every city where we operate. Starting in Johannesburg, our headquarters, we will be planting a tree for every project that starts construction – “in the ground” – an act symbolising our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and contributing positively to the environment.

For 2023, that means we will be planting 11 trees. Each tree represents a project or a portfolio of projects in a city that we are working in. With each tree planted, we aim to create a green legacy that grows along with our projects, making a tangible contribution to the environment.

Beyond their beauty, trees play a vital role in combating climate change by absorbing harmful carbon dioxide emissions. They also serve as a habitat for a variety of wildlife, maintaining the balance of natural ecosystems. Urban forests contribute to human health by improving air quality, reducing noise pollution, and providing spaces for recreation and relaxation. Tree-planting initiatives can also foster community ties, by bringing together individuals and organisations in shared commitment to environmental sustainability.

To us, this initiative goes beyond planting trees, it’s also about fostering a culture of sustainability within our teams, with our clients and in the communities where we work. We believe in the power of collective action and hope that our efforts will inspire others to join us in our mission to create sustainable environments.
